One story weatherboarded with gabled roof with return and double slope; kitchen ell with gabled roof forms T shaped plan; 2 gabled dormers on front slope with a louvered wood vent with angled top in each; double slope roof: 5 bay porch, 3 bay facade, central entry with double doors; short brick piers support square wood piers on verandah with balustrade on outer 2 bays; 3 openings in facade with double doors correspond to 3-18'x10' front rooms; 2 windows each side; 2 interior chimneys straddle ridge behind dormers; interior chimney straddles ridge of kitchen ell. transom and sidelites on 3 facade doors; flushboard facade; no existing windowpanes. OUTBUILDINGS: none

rear porches enclosed, brick piers with short square wood piers on verandah (ca.1928); shed roofed addition at left rear
Historical Information:
House was built for Judge Monro (1796-1889) a circuit judge from 1853 until Reconstruction. Later occupied by Handy Bruce Fant (1846 - ? ) a grocer, an Agent for the Blue Ridge Railroad and a Baptist Minister.
