Reached by tree-lined roadway from Hwy 1. Found tombstones dating from 1805 (and possibly earlier) Cedar trees in oldest section. New cinder block wall around edge. Marble and granite gravestones. Iron gate with brick side walls.
Historical Information:
Established as family burying ground for pioneer settlers from Highlands and Hebrides Islands of Scotland who arrived by way of North Carolina. Many Bethunes in oldest sections. Also represented are the McIness, Catoe, McDonald, McLaurin, McCaskill, and McLeod families.
