Built probably around 1837, the house later became the home of Dr. John Beaufain Irving, noted author, and avid horseman. The house is built on a high brick basement and is faced with leveled clapboard with roof and piazza cornice in modillions. Tuscan columns are on both porches and the front entry steps are a recent addition. Interior embellishment is limited to a modified plaster cornice in each room, circular ceiling medallions, simple wooden framing of doors and windows.
