Alterations:
Originally built with an entrance bay portico as a 2-story I house, the rear T wing was added with flanking 1 wings by the mid-19th century. The house was extensively remodeled ca. 1835 in the Greek Revival style w/the addition of the present porch
Historical Information:
Built for Dr. Berners Barnwell Sams in 1818. Used as Contraband Hospital #10 during the Civil War. The house remained in the Sams family until 1996.
