Single-bay entrance portico with segmentally arched openings on three sides, flat roof with stylistic parapet and steps leading up to first-floor entrance. Metal-frame casement windows. Central lateral chimney. Windows, brick lentils, rowlock sills.
Alterations:
Room addition at rear with shed roof. Wheelchair lift and wood deck installed at rear entry. Metal shed roof extension at façade, left bay over covered entry.
Historical Information:
Dr. E. E. McClaren, an African American physician founded this private hospital in this location in 1949 because he was denied practice at Greenville General Hospital (white). The hospital had nine beds and served Greenville's African American community.
