Built by John Burckmeyer, the house is built over a high basement and is of the typical single house style. Narrow beveled clapboard covers the exterior and the 2 story veranda is topped by a pediment and fanlight at the roof level. An interesting feature is the pressed tin ceiling in the dining room, a reminder of the great earthquake of 1886, which brought down the original ceiling.
