Signficant Architectural Features:
Constructed about 1840, F.Q. McHugh, the exterior surface is of Charleston grey brick, laid in Flemish bond, with flat brick arches above the windows. The exterior is plain except for brick relief courses between the second and third stories and a roof parapet. Very unusual are the wrought iron parapets above the four windows on the third floor. These show a palmetto tree on each instead of the then popular anthemion design. The interior has been completely restored by its present owners and they have retained the original plasterwork, ribbed cornices, and other original features of the house even though plumbing, kitchens, heating, and electric wiring all had to be installed.
