Signficant Architectural Features:
Antebellum. Built in 1839 - 1840, this dwelling was probably constructed by Jonah M. Venning and is a handsome and lofty house with spacious 2 tiered piazzas. Although lately in bad repair, the house has recently been bought and is being extensively renovated. It is a typical single house with 2 rooms on either side of its 3 stories and is backed by a roomy 3 story ell. Behind the house is a large kitchen and dependency, and to the rear a stable building. Each of the structures are of Flemish bond with beaded mortar. Although the interior features are rather plain, the new owners have stripped away much of the inside clutter to make way for period restoration.
