Signficant Architectural Features:
Built in 1846 by Gabriel Brown, the house later became the residence of Henry Laurens, the wealthy patriot and planter. Although the house was lately in bad repair, the present owners have undertaken vast restoration and today the house is recaptured in its original state.
The 2 1/2 story brick single house stands upon a high basement of herring bone brick work. Wide, 2-tiered, balustrated piazzas and a gable roof with dormers complete the exterior. There is a 2 story rear dependency to the rear which has been restored to accommodate more living space. The entire interior construction was removed to allow for the period restoration.
