Signficant Architectural Features:

This antebellum house was built by Dr. Thomas Eveleigh for his widowed daughter, and is of the normal Charleston single house style, having two rooms on either side of a central hall. Although the rooms on the first level are grand in themselves, by comparing them to the corresponding rooms on the second level, one can see that the second floor is the main living area. The second story possesses far greater height and sufficient enrichment in the Greek Revival woodwork and plaster to set them aside clearly as the drawing and dining room of the dwelling. In the 1890's the house was extensively remodeled to the then popular Victorian influence, which accounts for its stucco facade with sheet metal cornice.
