This house built in 1819 by the father of Dr. St. Julien Ravenal, is a most flamboyant house of the typical Charleston style. It is three stories with a large three story bay on the front. The front windows are pedimented and decorative belting runs between each level. The cornice is heavy with modillions and corner consoles. The three-tiered piazza has Doric columns and a balustrade at the two upper levels. The house is solid brick, 32 inches thick with a stucco overlay. The front door is very striking with carved rosettes.
