Signficant Architectural Features:
The house was built by William Henry Houston and is constructed on a full-height brick basement laid in common bond and the 2-tiered piazza, resting on brick piers, has 16 unfluted Doric columns with the top tier trimmed in a delicate dentil cornice. Although the rest of the house is trimmed in plain surface clapboard, the entrance facade is faced in shiplap, giving a softer surface appearance. The dormers at roof level and the side gable windows are large three-part openings and a heavy ribbed cornice surrounds the building. The 1st floor principle rooms have elaborate openwork plaster cornices, strongly molded ceiling medallions and the high baseboards typical of the period.
