Signficant Architectural Features:
Round lighthouse, extending 133 feet above mean high tide. Iron exterior, painted white lower 2/3, black upper 1/3. Exterior walking platform at 9th stage; glass-enclosed beacon room at 11th stage. Secured to a concrete piling with iron rivets.
Alterations:
Originally built in to the north of the present location; moved in 1889, using the original materials.
Historical Information:
Original lighthouse for Hunting Island built in 1850s, destroyed by Confederates during Civil War. New lighthouse built in 1875, approximately 1.25 north of the present location. This site was threatened by erosion, and the lighthouse was moved to its
