Historical Information:
St. Luke's is the only Episcopal church in Newberry County. Organized in 1846, the congregation constructed a gothic sanctuary building in 1855 that was dedicated in August 1855 by the Right Reverend Thomas F. Davis, Bishop of South Carolina. The building was severely damaged by vandalism during the Civil War and was on the verge of being closed. The church was destroyed by a tornado in 1984, but was constructed in the image of the old church.
