Historical Information:
Designed by Eric McKebbon, the Haynsworth Federal Building was completed in 1937 as US post office, courthouse, and federal office building. The building was later named for Clement F. Haynsworth, Jr. (1912-1989), a Greenville attorney appointed as judge for Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals in 1957. He was nominated by President Richard M. Nixon to the US Supreme Court in 1969, but was not confirmed. Haynsworth remained on the Fourth Circuit until his death.
