Signficant Architectural Features:
Two-Story commercial building, in plan a rectangle with one rounded corner. Exterior has been covered with stucco. A parapet encloses the flat roof on three sides: on the Palmetto Ave. and Butler St. sides of the parapet is a wide cornice (probably metal) which has finials at either end. The main entrance to the building is located in the southeast corner. Another doorway is found at the north end of the east elevation. The present large plate glass windows are situated in the center of the east elevation and at the east end of the south elevation. None of the present doors and windows are original. Above the main entrance, in the curved corner of the building immediately below the cornice, are decorative corbels.
Alterations:
Major changes include the removal of all original window openings, the covering of the entire building exterior with stucco, and the addition of a one-story rear wing. The original appearance of this building can be seen in an old photograph reproduced in Denmark Urban Design Study.
Historical Information:
A bronze plaque on the building reads: "City Hall This building was built in August 1909. On August 26. 1971. the family of the late R. A. Easterling deeded this Denmark landmark to the city.
