Historical Information:
The McCrae House is reputed to have been the second home built in the new town of Denmark. First constructed in Graham's Turnout, it was dismantled, then rebuilt on its present site in 1902. The date 1902 was inscribed by a brick mason in plaster covering the chimney. Fred Harvey McCrae and Martha Laffitte McCrae lived in this house, and a family of seven children were reared in it. Prominent in civic affairs, Fred H. McCrae served on town council and as mayor pro tern, and he was chairman of the Light and Water Works Commission when the town first provided these services.
