A. S. Easterling, the father of 7 daughters, moved from his family plantation near Cope, S. C., to Bamberg in order that his daughters could more conveniently and adequately receive their education. In 1896, he purchased the lot on Railroad Avenue and soon thereafter began construction of his house. The house contains many of the old doors, windows and large English locks removed from the plantation house that was built long before the Civil War. Now belonging to Easterling's 4 surviving daughters, 3 of them reside in the house.
