Signficant Architectural Features:
Clapboard house, basically L-shaped in plan, with 2 stories plus mansard. The straight-sided mansard roof features hooded dormers and bracketed box cornice with decorated frieze. 2 large interior chimneys with corbeled caps are visible from Railroad Avenue. Windows are large 2/2 sash; those on the 1st and 2nd floors are rectangular, and dormer windows are semicircular arched. Front: Design of the front (N.) elevation is asymmetrical; its left side is divided into 2 bays and features a 1-story porch with turned posts; the projecting right side of the front facade contains the main entrance (double doors and rectangular transom) , which is sheltered by a 1 bay porch with turned posts and balusters; to the right of the entrance is a 1-story polygonal bay. Sides: Both E. and W. sides of the house feature a 2-story projecting bay. OUTBUILDINGS:

Historical Information:
Only example of the Second Empire style in Bamberg. This house was built by D. Henry Counts after he purchased the property in 1892. In 1901. Counts sold the house to Mrs. Hennie I. Knight, who was the first wife of A. W. Knight, owner of the Bamberg Herald newspaper and Bamberg's postmaster. After Mrs. Knight's death, the property was sold to Mrs. Virginia M. Jones, wife of William Preston Jones. Jones was associated with his brothers, Robert C. and John J. Jones, in a large livery stable which was known throughout the South for its fine horses. The brothers also owned a race track in Bamberg and a stable of race horses.
