Signficant Architectural Features:
Clapboard church of meeting house design. Hipped roof with protecting eaves. Front: symmetrical. 3 bays, with central Palladian window flanked on either side by a 9-paneled door with transom. Sides: 5 bays; 2nd story lights above each window. All windows except Palladian are 9/9 double sash with louvered shutters. Interior: 4 round columns, pews, organ, kerosene lamps (since electrified) have been preserved. Heavy locks on doors were made by Charles Benefield Reeves, an early pastor of Smyrna. OUTBUILDINGS:

Historical Information:
This church was organized in the early 1800's as Kirkland Chapel. Typical of early S. C. churches, the church building is of meeting house design. Heresy trial here resulted in the formation of Antioch Christian Church. Congregation disbanded in 1958.
