2 story frame residence; "L“ shaped v/front-fecing “L" and rear hipped addition, 6 bays wide (W-W-W-E-W-W), 4 bays deep west: W-W-W-W, east: FD-FD-FD-FD); flared cross gable patterned composition roof w/boxed cornice; 3 interior brick chimneys with corbelled caps; 2-story porch along facade w/chamfered wood posts on 2nd level, round & square wood columns on 1st level, 1 story hipped porch across east elevation w/turned columns; rectangular louvered attic vent in side gable, 2-round louvered attic vents in front-facing gable, wood 9/9 and 4/4 windows, some windows w/ louvered wood shutters, central entrance within elaborate entablature surround with transom and sidelights, french doors at 1st level of east elev., pilaster at corner of south corner of facade, front-facing roof gable is slightly flared; wood weatherboard siding, brick pier foundation with brick infill OUTBUILDINGS: Barns and sheds (Contributory)

Historical Information:
Land purchased in; original section of house constructed shortly thereafter; expanded prior to Civil War & remodeled in late 19th century. Residence of Paul Fitzsimons Hammond, son of Gov. James Henry Hammond, and his wife, Loula Comer, who resided at the house as early as 1858 until his death in 1887; the Galbraith Lamar family occupied the house until 1911 when it was purchased by Paul Dunbar.
