Historical Information:
Pittfield of Canada came to Aiken mainly to play polo. He built this house in 1929 but lived here only a short time. There was an old_x000D_ house on this property- 1-story house that belonged to the Crofts. This existing House moved to Holly Lane (according to members of the Croft family). (Pittfields were determined to buy a lot. Mr. Ira Coward was in charge of the building of the house. Pittfields lost money in the stock market crash. House was rented. House was built at a cost of $30,000 in 1929.
