Historical Information:
Municipal Building, Fire Headquarters and Police Barracks, built under authority of Federal Former Emergency Administration of Public Works. Until 1935 Town Hall was located in the parkway of Newberry Street, between Laurens and Richland Aves. The rear of this site was used by police station and "calaboose," remnants of which are visible from The Alley. The Aiken Grand Opera House was located here from about 1915 until about 1935, and was replaced by the Municipal Building.
