Historical Information:
Faces site of an early passenger train depot (shown on 1889 map) and is just west of the large depot built on Union Street at Park Avenue ca. 1895. The Park Avenue Hotel, "the first tourist hotel in Aiken" faced the Park Avenue depot until burning about 1896, with_x000D_
tits service buildings scattered about the block. Rebuilding began soon after the fire, and this building was constructed about 1900. In 1904 a paint and tin shop was located here; in 1909 a S. C. Dispensary (state liquor store). By 1918 the one-story left bay had been added and housed a barber; the two story portion is shown as "grocer".
