Historical Information:
Not shown on 1935 Sanborn map, building was constructed for Immanuel Presbyterian Mission Church, which it remained until 1940's. (See SHPO No. 1402) It is said to have been "moved to this site (from the NE corner of York and Richland); construction details indicate a more recent building which could have been constructed from materials salvaged from the church. This lot was earlier (1899- 1918) occupied by a two-story lodge of a black fraternal order, shown on 1899 Sanborn map as "colored I.0.O.F. being built" and later maps as "lodge" or "hall".
