2-story weatherboard residence; bays "ABA"; 2-story pedimented portico supported by 4 large square pillars; gable roof; 1st story entrance has double doors flanked by 4 light sidelights & 7 light transom; corner block molding detail around entrance; balcony on 2nd story supported by decorative brackets & has decorative balustrade; single door entrance onto balcony with 4 light sidelights & same molding; windows 6/6 lights; 1-story gabled roof rear ell w/garage attached; 2 ext. end chimneys; gable ends have boxed cornice w/return; 1 int. chimney on ell.
Alterations:
Originally two rooms; each floor with unattached kitchen; McCain added two shed rooms and kitchen - original kitchen added to house as study.

Sloan - built house for sons who were attending Erskine College; Neel -Medical doctor; McCain - professor at Erskine College 49 years; home of 5 college presidents; (1) Dr. E. L.
