Historical Information:
The house was built for Simon Perry Ball, a Civil War veteran and farmer who grew cotton, wheat, peas and corn. Some field terraces are still evident on the property. The farm is approximately 123 acres, including the house, outbuildings, some fields and a family cemetery. The property has not been farmed since the 1940-1949. The Anderson and Hellam families were some of the tenants. In one of the outbuildings is a stone on which pine knots were burned to extract pitch.
