Signficant Architectural Features:
The home has nine-over-nine windows (six-over-nine on the second of the main façade), one- gable ell on the south façade, and two exterior end chimneys (originally paired, but one removed on each end).
Alterations:
The chimneys have been rebuilt and the house has been moved from a previous location to avoid demolition during construction of Hwy 176.
Historical Information:
This home was constructed by Colonel Nathaniel Gist in the early 1800s. It was home to the Gist Family for many years and was the birthplace of William H. "State's Rights" Gist. The home is noted on Mills Atlas of 1825.
