Historical Information:
The Imperial Hotel, built 1911-12, was designed by local architects F. H. & J. G. Cunningham and constructed by W. M. Jordan, who were also investors in the project. The 7-story, 90-room hotel was the first "skyscraper" in Greenville and the third in the state. The original section of the building was constructed of load-bearing masonry, but later sections were brick veneer over a steel frame. Along with the Ottaray Hotel, the Imperial was one of the city's finest hotels in the early twentieth century
