Historical Information:
Douglas and Maude Cone were the first residents at 517 Huger Street in 1914. They did not live there long and in 1915, they sold the house to Mr. R. Lockwood Williams. He and his wife, Katie, sold the house in 1917 to Mr. E. J. Murphy. Mr. Murphy originally used the house as a rental property, but in 1921, he moved into the house himself. The house was again sold in 1922 to Mr. J. Henry and Mrs. Dora A. Dreyer. The Dreyers lived there until 1938 when they sold the house to Mrs. Margaret Furlong Carey. Mrs. Carey sold the house to the St. James United Methodist Church in 1954 and it was used as a parsonage for twenty-five years.
