There is a one-story gable addition on the west façade. The building was remodeled in 1917 and the columns supporting the gable porch were replaced in 1988.
Historical Information:
Bush River Baptist Church was organized in 1771. It was the only organized church belonging to the Congaree Association (formed in 1771 and ending in 1778). It then became a member of the Bethel Association and later the Reedy River Association. Bush River joined the Baptist State Convention in 1834.
Bush River Baptist was the mother church of First Baptist, Cross Roads Baptist and Fairview Baptist.
