Built by Capt. Daniel McNeill, the house is a remodeled Victorian house over a Post-Revolutionary dwelling. The remodeling was done about 1894, and created a striking effect over the rather simple original house. Typical of the transition is the 1st story drawing room which contains a Victorian ceiling medallion although the rest of the room contains a late Adam rendering. The apparent alterations made by the later owner, a Mr. Egan consisted of adding a third story to McNeill's house, building a 3-story bay onto the rear, and extending the rear dependency and stable buildings.
