Date Surveyed:
circa 1972
Signficant Architectural Features:
Antebellum. Built around 1849, this is a very unusual house among a row of consistent mid-century houses. It is of typical Charleston single plan with an entrance of the north end and a portico on the south. The most unusual and eye-catching feature of the house is the portico with the four square columns with open work supports. An iron balcony runs across the second floor piazza entrances. The house has a very high gable with extending gable window and dormers. A small porch is attached over the entranceway and has the same laticework as do the columns of the portico.
