Signficant Architectural Features:
Neo-Classical. Built by Whiceford Smith, the house sits on a partial basement probably to command a better view across the marsh and its backwaters. A somewhat modified double house plan was used which allowed for 4 rooms on each floor split by a center hallway, the front rooms being nearly twice the depth back ones. The exterior is faced with an unbeaded boearding and the hipped roof has a gentle bell curve. The 2-tiered piazza with its unfluted Doric columns is made easily accessible by large full-length windows. The interior window and door architraves are treated in fluting or reeding with simple corner blocks as the only other decoration.
