the house was originally a gable-el with a breeze way separating the "el" from the main part of the house; the breeze way was located at the NW end of the porch which ran the length of the SW elevation; 6/6 double hung sash windows (wooden); false shutters; wood post on brick pierson front porch; interior brick chimney

the original porch and breeze way were enclosed and rooms added to the SW & NW elevations of the house in 1952; the pyramidal roof & the current front porch was also added in 1952
Historical Information:
The original part of the house was built in the 1870s; the Swintz family arrived in Gresham from Switzerland and purchased the property (with the house) in the 1880s; the family raised corn & tobacco until the late 1970s or early 1980s; the log tobacco curing barn located at 1241 Swintz Court was part of the original farmstead, as are approximately 150 acres of land that have been put into a 90 year trust with the WPA(?) wet land management district; only about 90 acres of land were ever farmed as the 150 acres of wetland were unable to be drained successfully
