Obelisk honors 77 people who perished in the Cleveland School fire in 1923. Monument is granite - in excellent shape. Plaque on front looks old, but monument itself looks new. Paved drive circling around monument is brand new.

Historical Information:

Monument is on the site of former Cleveland School where 77 people, many children, lost their lives in the 1923 fire during a school play on the 2nd floor. Incident produced major changes in fire safety laws.
