Historical Information:
Historic makers for Battle of Camden site. One granite marker erected by Hobkirk Hill Chapter, DAR, 1909 says "Baron Dekalb mortally wounded on this spot at Battle of Camden, August 16, 1780." Marks Revolutionary War Battle between the British under Lord Cornwallis who defeated Americans under Horatio Gates. Baron Dekalb, a German-born French citizen and general in the American army was mortally wounded here.
