Signficant Architectural Features:
Rectangular, gable front ecclesiatical building with full height entry with neoclassical details.  Multi-pane windows with spider web transoms.  Pyramid shaped steeple on gable roof.  Church hall (hip roof brick) connected at rear, a covered breezeway connects to second church building (hip roof, brick).
				
Alterations:
Changed roof from hip to gable, added neoclassical entry with Roman Doric columns, molded oversize door surround, paneled frieze. Building stuccoed and steeple added in 1961.
				
Historical Information:
Congregation dates to 1843.  First building, two-story frame, on knoll in Bethune cemetery.  Church moved to current location in 1906.   Parsonage built in 1911/1912.  Current church first constructed in 1925.  Renovated in 1961.  Cornerstone:  "Bethel M.E. Church South 1843-1925, Reverend W.V. Jerman Pastor"
