Signficant Architectural Features:
This two story brick Victorian cottage has a hipped roof, 3 chimneys and stucco-covered trim. The windows are 6 over 6 sash. A porch projects from the center of both the front and rear elevations. Both are two stories in height and are supported by coupled channeled piers (separated by lancet openings) with a Tudor arch spanning the central opening. The rear porch has been partially enclosed while the front porch has had a flight of metal stairs added to reach the second floor. The front doors are flanked by sidelights and have transoms composed of multiple vertical lights. The stucco trim of the house covers corner quoins, a channeled or rusticated 'basement,' the chimneys and blind Tudor arches. The house has wide projecting eaves. It was the home of Osborne Wells who was the building contractor for Newberry College, the Opera House and the pediment of the Old Court House. This could be part of a High Point District.
