Historical Information:
Church established 1871. This church originated with neighborhood meetings held in a log cabin on the property of Miss Peggy Edwards. Church was organized with a congregation of 37 members who had been dismissed by letter from other churches for the purpose. The name Kentyre was probably inspired by the fact that some of the members had ancestral connections with the Mull of Kentyre, in Argyllshire, Scotland. Building was occupied by 1874.
