Signficant Architectural Features:
The building is an I-house form with two brick end chimneys with stone bases. The windows are nine over six panes, with shutters and arched pediments. The main entry door has a transom and sidelights with wood panels. The door is surrounded by fluted pilasters with carved, star-patterned blocks at the corners. The cornice is decorated with a scalloped molding that continues around to the side gable ends and short cornice returns.
Alterations:
The rear porches formed by the ell have been enclosed, and the front façade porch has been removed.
Historical Information:
Maps of the area indicate that this house was probably owned by members of the Elrod family at least from 1877 to 1897.
