One-story rear shed wing. 49' square light tower extends gable end wall; octagonal glass and metal lamp housing with slat balustrade along outside catwalk supported by carved brackets.
Outbuildings: Cistern adjacent to house, built 1895: brick structure
Built on foundation of ca. 1790-1820 tabby mansion. Constructed as keeper's dwelling and rear range light marking the entrance into Calibogue Sound. The front light was a separate small tower that rested on a movable foundation.
