Stuccoed brick raised 2 story Greek Revival structure with rounded ends projecting NE and NW. Temple front entrance west features porch with classical pediment supported on 4 columns in stuccoed brick (? ) Capitals of basket form, perhaps unfinished.

Beaufort College was chartered in 1795 and opened in 1804. The first permanent college building was built at the corner of Bay and Church Streets in 1809. After the yellow fever epidemic of 1817, the college was relocated to the corner of Newcastle and
