Historical Information:
Local tradition attributes construction of this house to Rev. Thomas E. Ledbetter, a Methodist missionary who arrived in Beaufort about 1834. Ledbetter acquired the property about 1840 from Thomas Talbird , who had purchased it from William G. Baynard in
