Alterations:

the east portion of the fort has eroded into the Beaufort River

Historical Information:

Fort Frederick was constructed in 1734/1735 to replace the older Beaufort Fort which had been established in 1706. Fort Frederick was in turn replaced by Fort Lyttelton circa 1755.
